If you're reading this blog you have just entered into the mind of Chandler Bing, a very complicated place may I add. Quickly, just to describe Chandler in one word for those of you who do not know him, I could say " Could he BE anymore sarcastic!". Mr. Bing uses jokes and sarcasm to hide his real emotions at times, and generally uses the two as a defense mechanism against the world, although he is a great friend, successful and lovable. He first started using these comical methods in his life when his parents divorced, mainly due to his father being gay and having a complete sex change to a woman. In most episodes we are reminded of this past through his sarcasm that bring as all to laughter. You could never fully understand Chandler from simply reading this blog or reading about him at all, you'd have to see it for yourself. After watching two episodes of "Friends" you would be able to pick up the Chandler Bing speech pattern that I hinted above, for example, "Could you BE any stupider?!". He emphasizes one word out of every sarcastic comment he makes, so even if you don't get it right away, the writers make it very clear for the audience to identify. I urge you to take Chandler's <a href="http://youtu.be/hLc8RIdRzio">sarcasm 101 class</a> to make all of your friends mad in your next conversation. Your friends wont enjoy it, but you will!

Chandler Badda Bing!

I really enjoyed this blog post mainly because Chandler is probably my favorite character in the show. I think his sarcasm makes the show as funny as it is.
ReplyDeleteI have probably only seen two episodes of Friends and the episode I saw Chandler definitely emphasized that one word when he was being sarcastic. Being fluent in sarcasm myself, I found this post hilarious. Are you serious? His father really got a sex change. I would have never known that. Nice random fact. Great blog!
